What is this “PURSUE” thing?
Pursue Christian Teen Conference is an annual event held in Harrisburg, drawing Christian churches from neighboring states for a weekend of top-notch teaching and worship, challenging workshops, and fun.
Is it a cult or something?
Nope, not at all. It’s solidly built on the Christian faith with solid biblical teaching, worship and prayer undergirding the entire experience since 1983. The leadership is committed to providing a weekend to bring teens together and give them an dynamic opportunity to pursue their relationship with God and each other.
How many people will be there?
Between teens and adults, registration ranges around 1200 – 1600.
When is it?
February 24-26, 2017 (Always near the end of February.)
Friday night’s first session starts at 8:00pm. Sunday finishes before noon.
What’s the format like?
There are 2 full conferences that take place simultaneously, one for middle school students and one for high school students. Some events are blended, but the main sessions are separated & age-appropriate.
Harrisburg, you say?
Yup. Hosted mostly at the Hilton in downtown Harrisburg, the conference also extends to the Crowne Plaza a couple blocks from the Hilton, and to the Forum, a stately building part of the capitol complex, a couple blocks the other way.
Strawberry Square, a food court and shopping area attached to the Hilton, provides another central meeting and eating spot for groups.
I’ve heard the names “PURSUE,” and “PCTC.” What gives? Which is it?
Either name works. PURSUE comes from 2 Timothy 2:22. Run away from anything that stimulates youthful lusts. Instead, pursue righteous living, faithfulness, love and peace. Enjoy the companionship of those who call on the Lord with pure hearts.
PCTC, as it’s historically known, stands for the Pursue Christian Teen Conference.
Ok. How much?
Registration is $60 per person until Jan 31. After that, it’s $70 – even at the conference.
Hotel rooms for PURSUE guests are $127 per night (plus taxes) for a double room at the Hilton Harrisburg. Rooms are slightly less at the Crowne Plaza Harrisburg. Split 4 ways (4 people to a room), that’s not a bad deal. … Give them a few bucks for food, and they’re good to go.
NOTE: Registration and Hotel Reservations must be done as a group by your church’s youth leader. Hotel rooms go quickly! Encourage EARLY commitment and sign-up to ensure your spot! Also please read carefully the cancellation policy of each hotel.
